Track Name: My Grandmother's House
Isn’t it funny how the house is filled with photos of her younger self?
Well the picture books are scattered
like the years & tears & fears that turn to dust
With a big house full of memories left over for her sons
to pick off all the wall paper & the parts they love the most.
The town today has lost a soul
and maybe a way of life.
But they know the name lives on.

Missed Sunday mass: the funeral
But don’t blame me ‘cause I was in another state
She left behind a letter that told me of my sins
In the temple where my father died
Well it seems I’ll never win.
In a big house full of centuries where her daughter still remains
to go through all the boxes so a history never fades.
She lost her job, her mom & the dog but least she’s got a son
& through them the name lives on.

Where do I go from here?

Here’s one for that Midwestern charm you’d never sell
& one for the smile that lived beside the pain so well
I’ll leave some pennies on your grave so if the storm don’t bring me back
At least I know I’ve paid my dues
Track Name: Max
A paw print in the snow
shows me where you’d like to go
Where ya roam.
The tracks are far from the door & dissipate more
as I bring the snow across the floor.

You’re gonna have to fight them off yourself
if you’re gonna make it in the cold.
Their eyes are sharp & their claws are longer than yours
& they’re well aware that ya just left home.

Your fur still stains my black blue jean pants
& I thought you’d like to know
I could never erase that smell that bothered me so long ago.
Claw marks are running up & down my door
I can barely trace them any more
Why can I just sand these sad melodies away?

Be careful not to lose the tips of your ears.
Put forth your pride & hide all of your fears.
I’m sure you’ve learned to fend for them well .
My windows & doors are always left unlocked
& I’ve got a picture in my pocket
to remind me of you & where ya might be

My old friend, this sad song
I’ve put it all together but it doesn’t seem that long
Since we’ve last meet up & talked
But that’s life….
& we’ve only got one
Track Name: Take Things As They Come
I’m an only child, but what’s that got to do with you?
I could take you out in one punch or two.
Was a rocketeer, the last of the few
Couldn’t buy ya out
Well it seems too soon.

Well the old blood still stains these tour denim jeans
Well the book in my hand was larger then once seemed
The shoes they’re a walkin’ to the soul of the streets
These shoes they’re a walkin’

Would ya hold me dear? The bands breaking up
Well ya try so hard / I’m stuck in the mud

Well the old blood still stain these tour denim jeans
Well the book in my hand had more words then once seemed
The shoes, they’re a stompin’ to the soul of the streets
These shoes they’re a walkin’

Blessed are the days in which we spend with you before the end
& God damn you for your vices
Well it seems the city, it wins again
Someday their gonna find you with your face torn off & nailed to a wall
& l just laugh, I’ll laugh away
I’ll breathe it in before the moments gone

Well the man told me to take away each moment as it comes
Yeah the man told me to take away each moment as it comes
Track Name: I'm Not Gonna Let Go Of You (This Time)
My heart is a chore but I can tell by that smile
That someone here’s been keeping score
Of all my faults & wrongs
If you’d like we can take another effort
I’d pull myself together & try a little harder this time
To be your man, yeah I’d give it a try

Cause I’m not not not not not not gonna let go of you this time
No I stop stop stopped my foolin’ around
Yeah, it’s true you’ll find

Pop music sounds better when you’re in its themes
Well it leans, but my schemes don’t seem to make any sense
Without a home to call your own
My heart is yours / it’s here at the door
& we’re pounding away until you let us both in…
Into that place you call your own

Or maye she’ll say “No, not this time.
No not those rhymes. No not this time.”
Or maybe, just maybe, she’ll let me back in.

I’m not gonna let go of you this time
No I stop stop stopped my foolin’ around
Cause why not / let’s give it a try
Cause I’m not notnot…

Yeah, I know what I want!
Track Name: The Windy City
Well it’s been said The Windy City has been calling back to you
& you’re bound to hop that train in the fall.
Am I allowed to say I love you
For those words are just for you
Or do you find that to be a tale tall

But if we talked it over ya just might find it true
I’m back in town / & I’m gonna see things through

Well that pig has got it coming if he lays those hands on you
He’ll have to deal with me
& a three legged cat too boot
He’s got ya in the wrong
& I won’t stand to see ya hurt
That comes from me & me alone
But maybe that’s a lot more worse?

But if you thought it over you just might come to find
I’ll be around if you’d have me back in time.

That’s not my flyer on your door anymore
But I’m glad to see those flowers in the mulch
I wouldn’t mind if you tear them out
It buried in the sound
Well hills have up’s & down’s you know
This song came from the soil
& it’s sprouting up the ground
Track Name: About (by Caley Conway)
You're a hypnotist, and a spirit
o' the holy musical instrument
and your days go quick,
and the couch is warm when you walk away from it.

You're the easiest person to love, and slightly
more difficult to get ahold of, and slightly
less serious about things,
more in-tune to your surroundings,
less tiring for me to spend
more time around, and slightly,
slightly less inclined to want me, now
that you're more-or-less the easiest sunnovabitch
to talk with, or tease, or give a damn about.

For all the other snowbanks to catch your car in,
there's other Chinese take-out places open when you're starving,
and other charming little kitchens
in a city other people live in-- other women,
all the women, all your fill in girls and women.
Hooo, hooo,
hooooooo,
hooo a-hoo, a-hooooo,
hooo, hooo.

You're the easiest person to love, and slightly
more difficult to get ahold of, and slightly
less serious about things,
more in-tune to your surroundings,
less tiring for me to spend
more time around and slightly,
slightly less inclined to want me, now
that you're more-or-less the easiest sunnovabitch
to talk with, or tease, or give a damn about!
Track Name: Don't Tell Me
Well it’s easier to disappoint
Then to tell someone to “go fuck off”
Yeah I could think it over / Keep it to myself
Wait for someone else to make the call
& I know ya been talking / it’s been said before
“What goes around, it comes around”
Ya probably should have all kept it to yourself
‘Cause you should know that you’re the talk of the town.

‘Cause you sleep with all your friends
& I hope you’re sleeping well my friend.

Too many good women been around the block
Up & down the streets, yeah they’ve been around
& their scaring off all of my old maids.
Yeah I should have known right from the start
When you shared a friend you share a part
To an inside joke that never goes away.

I hear you got money cause it like to talk
Seven dollars a week to walk these blocks
& every day you’d find me with penny change.
Yeah it was me / I was holding your hand.
When you were learning to walk
I could already stand
& that’s why you might find me running away.

So I can sleep with all your friends
‘Cause we sleep with all our friends
& we’re all sleeping well my friend.
Track Name: Cassidy
I should have known from the start
I’d knew what you’d do & if you did
Yeah, I’d consider myself smart
Counting cards under the table
I would be playing the part of the fool / or someone in love
Would that be good enough?
I don’t know, but it would get me by
Until next time

Because its 2012 / It’s the end of the world
& I just found out I was tied down to a girl
Who said that’s she was in love
Stop taking pictures of me
Stop being there by my side
‘Cause I was only ever around for the ride
But I gave it a try.

I don’t need another soul
I found myself in rock n’ roll
Oh yeah but where does it go?
Didn’t see you at the corner store
Didn’t see you down at the DW show
So tell me where does it go?
“I don’t know? Where does it go?”
So tell me where does it go?

I want to be like the boys down the street connecting dots
In a nameless void covered in spots
If I sing like a canary / If I stung like a bee
If I let go then I would probably drown
If I let go then I would probably fly

Oh yeah, it snowed
You asked a reason for this treason
& I’ll tell you: it’s the summer time
But that was already one of your lines
It comes, its goes
Its goes around & around
When history repeats itself.
Track Name: Another Side Of Myles
I hear you’re from December
Well ya just might be my Christ
& they say we’ll live forever / yeah would that be nice
To say the time we’ve got together
Isn’t marked up on the clock
Some call it ignorance / Well me, I call it love

Quick for change of heart
This tin-pan-alley is way too small for me to skip town
Neglect a common cause
If he’s been away too long then just assume he’s not coming back

Never meant to scorn the torn photograph
I just meant to play the game as it became.

If I could paint those walls & cover up whatever was
It would take too long / It’s been taking long enough
You could burn the house or drink away the day
If you decide to stay so young my dear
Then I don’t think I could stay.

You might be taking classes but you’ll always be a Suzy to me
Go back to playing table games
Go back from whence it came
Whoever said to take the Stang out must have never heard my no’s
Well the explosions in the back seat reminded me of home
Track Name: Chapter III
I know it’s looking bad but face it my dear
We’ve got prices to pay & we can’t buy our beer

Another day without any rest
It’s another sleepless night down in Riverwest

Why would you want to leave so soon?
Stop the quill or I will for myself

Things are looking up but I’m brought back down by ballads
& my friends want to die
Write letters if you want
Sad songs or a poem
Just don’t stab yourself five times

Well I Love You
Well I Love you
