Isn’t it funny how the house is filled with photos of her younger self? Well the picture books are scattered like the years & tears & fears that turn to dust With a big house full of memories left over for her sons to pick off all the wall paper & the parts they love the most. The town today has lost a soul and maybe a way of life. But they know the name lives on. Missed Sunday mass: the funeral But don’t blame me ‘cause I was in another state She left behind a letter that told me of my sins In the temple where my father died Well it seems I’ll never win. In a big house full of centuries where her daughter still remains to go through all the boxes so a history never fades. She lost her job, her mom & the dog but least she’s got a son & through them the name lives on. Where do I go from here? Here’s one for that Midwestern charm you’d never sell & one for the smile that lived beside the pain so well I’ll leave some pennies on your grave so if the storm don’t bring me back At least I know I’ve paid my dues

A paw print in the snow shows me where you’d like to go Where ya roam. The tracks are far from the door & dissipate more as I bring the snow across the floor. You’re gonna have to fight them off yourself if you’re gonna make it in the cold. Their eyes are sharp & their claws are longer than yours & they’re well aware that ya just left home. Your fur still stains my black blue jean pants & I thought you’d like to know I could never erase that smell that bothered me so long ago. Claw marks are running up & down my door I can barely trace them any more Why can I just sand these sad melodies away? Be careful not to lose the tips of your ears. Put forth your pride & hide all of your fears. I’m sure you’ve learned to fend for them well . My windows & doors are always left unlocked & I’ve got a picture in my pocket to remind me of you & where ya might be My old friend, this sad song I’ve put it all together but it doesn’t seem that long Since we’ve last meet up & talked But that’s life…. & we’ve only got one

Well it’s easier to disappoint Then to tell someone to “go fuck off” Yeah I could think it over / Keep it to myself Wait for someone else to make the call & I know ya been talking / it’s been said before “What goes around, it comes around” Ya probably should have all kept it to yourself ‘Cause you should know that you’re the talk of the town. ‘Cause you sleep with all your friends & I hope you’re sleeping well my friend. Too many good women been around the block Up & down the streets, yeah they’ve been around & their scaring off all of my old maids. Yeah I should have known right from the start When you shared a friend you share a part To an inside joke that never goes away. I hear you got money cause it like to talk Seven dollars a week to walk these blocks & every day you’d find me with penny change. Yeah it was me / I was holding your hand. When you were learning to walk I could already stand & that’s why you might find me running away. So I can sleep with all your friends ‘Cause we sleep with all our friends & we’re all sleeping well my friend.

Chapter III 03:59
I know it’s looking bad but face it my dear We’ve got prices to pay & we can’t buy our beer Another day without any rest It’s another sleepless night down in Riverwest Why would you want to leave so soon? Stop the quill or I will for myself Things are looking up but I’m brought back down by ballads & my friends want to die Write letters if you want Sad songs or a poem Just don’t stab yourself five times Well I Love You Well I Love you
